This painting began as an attempt to preserve the quiet glow of evening light gently enveloping an old city building. Warm tones and subtle transitions of colour create a sense of stillness, as if time itself has briefly slowed and the familiar urban landscape has fallen silent. Some time after the painting was completed, the building was demolished. The road it was removed to make way for was never built. Today, the house survives only in memory and on this canvas. What began as a study of light has become a reflection on the fragility of urban memory and the disappearance of places that quietly shape our sense of home.
