Lost in the forest, she wandered in despair until her tears became a winding river that followed her path through the hills. According to the legend, this is how the Vitba River, which still flows through the city of Vitebsk, came into being. The painting reflects on the relationship between human emotion and the landscape. The female figure becomes an archetype of loss, endurance, and transformation, while the flowing forms of the forest and river suggest that memory can become embedded in nature itself. The work explores how myths preserve emotional truths, allowing personal experience to evolve into shared cultural memory.
